Men’s Crew Finishes Third in Goes Trophy Race

In its only home regatta of the spring season, the SU men’s rowing team was unable to defend its Goes Trophy and finished behind Navy and Cornell in the varsity eight race in a time of 5:52.0. Navy finished first, winning its first Goes Trophy since 2005, with a time of 5:48.3. Cornell finished second in 5:50.2.

The Goes Trophy is one of the oldest collegiate regattas in the country as the three schools have been competing since 1956. CitrusTV’s David DeGuzman reports on why the Orange weren’t able to defend last year’s win.

Syracuse Loses to Cornell for the Second Straight Year

Cornell doubled up Syracuse by a final score of 12 -6. At halftime Orange players went into the locker room happy with their performance. They had limited a potent Cornell attack to three goals and were tied with the fifth ranked team in the country. Those good feelings quickly dissipated as the Big Red jumped all over SU to start the second half. CitrusTV’s Chip Angeles talked to Orange players and coaches after the game to see how Cornell was able to find the back of the net so often in the second half.
